Help Abandoned Pets Get Adopted through the Power of Photography

Australians who operate pet and animal rescue centres have very limited funds, yet are passionate about helping abandoned animals get adopted. To help them, we have teamed up with Australia’s top animal photographers to take professional photos of abandoned pets in need of adoption. Through warm and expressive photos, we hope to inspire people to adopt pets into their homes and hearts, while also helping pets in need go viral on the internet to raise awareness.

Who knows where this will take us. Thanks to your donations today, we will help abandoned cats and dogs … tomorrow we hope to help chickens, goats, pigs and more. With your support we can achieve this vision.

Help us, help them.

Our Animal Rescue Through Photography Campaign helps:

THE
SHELTERS

We work with reputable rescue groups around the country who are accountable for their work, and come highly recommended by the professional animal photographers we are working with. We are excited to have invited:

Image taken by Alex Cearns for No Pup Cleft Behind

No Pup Cleft Behind is one of the Rescue Groups we are working with for this campaign after being introduced to their wonderful work from Alex Cearns OAM. They are a small non-for-profit start-up with a dedicated team of volunteers that perform around the clock care for puppies who are born with a cleft palate. No Pup Cleft Behind give these pups the opportunity to receive life changing surgery. The puppies go on to live a happy, normal and long life with their forever families once adopted (which is where photography comes in!). Without the support of the community, these life changing surgeries would not be able to happen. You can find more images on their Instagram @nopupcleftbehind

Named as the Pet/Animal photographer of the year by the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers in August 2019, Belinda Richards has quickly proved that pet photography is more than just photos of cute dogs. As the founder and Creative Director of Frog Dog Studios Belinda has quickly become known for capturing animals’ unique expressions, poses and personality. These experiences, along with a love of light and a quirky sense of humour combine to create a fun, vibrant and refreshingly natural look to her images.

JO LYONS
Jo Lyons Photography, NSW

For animal lover Jo Lyons, it wasn’t until 2011 that she got serious about following her passion of photographing animals. She earned her stripes at the frontline, by using her skills at pounds to produce emotive images that would generate the second chance every shelter pet deserves. Armed with this sense of purpose, Jo left behind the corporate world and city life, and relocated with her family to a serene farm in the beautiful Wootton Valley in the Great Lakes Region of NSW where Jo offers a destination pet photography experience.

PETER SHARP
Tame and Wild Studio, NSW

Bursting with a bubbly personality, Peter enriches the lives of those he meets, by capturing the unique personality and stories of a plethora of pets and animals, and sharing them in a very special way. After receiving his first camera from his grandfather at age 13, he pursued photography full time, honing his skills into working with animals and wildlife. This award winning photographer and author continues to work closely with a number of not-for-profit organisations, while also operating his photography business, Tame & Wild Studio.

RUTH O'LEARY
Ruthless Photos, NSW

Ruth from Ruthless Photos is a specialist pet photographer that has been creating beautiful images for both private and commercial clients for over a decade. These commissions enable her to volunteer a large proportion of her time to animal rescue charities, working pro-bono to create professional images of animals in foster care or shelters to help them find forever homes. She also produces and sells books, calendars and diaries that raise funds to help those organisations. Helping dogs in need is where her pet photography journey started and using her talent for good is still the driving force behind Ruthless Photos.

75% of the funds will go to the animal rescue groups and the photographers.

To cover our costs, a small portion of the funds we raise will go towards coordinating the marketing and logistics in order to make this campaign happen. This includes creating content and executing marketing campaigns that promote the animal rescue groups themselves and to help get more pets adopted through the media, social media, public relations and marketing activations.

  • 50% of funds in the form of pet supplies, vet costs or cash donations for a project, will go directly to the shelter and help more adoptions.
  • 25% of funds raised will go to hiring professional photographers, logistics and transport to take pictures of the animals for the rescue groups to use for adoption images.
  • 25% of funds raised will go to marketing, campaign management and raising awareness on social media and in the press.
